N’taba River Lodge on the banks of the mighty Umzimvubu River in Port St Johns on the Wild Coast of the Eastern Cape Province in South Africa is a small, friendly and laid-back lodge catering for families and tourists alike. The décor is rustic and ethnic and you will experience the warm hospitality of the Wild Coast. Prior to 1976 and the Transkei independence Port St Johns was a very popular tourism destination in South Africa. Between 1976 and 1994 when the Transkei amalgamated with South Africa the town became almost a ghost town as far as tourism is concern. This have all change and Port St Johns is again one of the country’s popular coastal resort. At N’taba River Lodge Guests are accommodated in spacious thatched bungalows, all en suite and with a veranda offering a beautiful view of the surroundings. Each chalet is equipped with fans, heaters as well as tea/coffee-making facilities. The bungalows are set on sprawling lawns, so the children have lots of room to play at the N’taba River Lodge. They also have a jungle gym, TV lounge for the kids (with kiddy DVD’s), as well as table tennis, board games and swimming pool to keep the junior visitors busy. The rates at the N’taba River Lodge include all meals, and a set menu is served. There are braai facilities as well as a bar serving refreshing drinks. The vicinity of the N’taba River Lodge and Port St Johns offers many interesting activities, including canoeing (free for Lodge guests), rock climbing, caving, hiking, diving, snorkelling, whale watching, bird watching, fishing, golf and bicycle trails. The N’taba River Lodge has an 18-seater catamaran for their specail sundowner cruises. |
